The 6pm “are you open?”
becomes a table your host confirms.
A chat button on your own website. It answers the menu question from your hours and menu, asks who the table is for and how to reach them, and gets the request to your team on WhatsApp while the guest is still deciding. If a hot request sits unanswered for 1 hour, it goes out again on every channel you set up.
Free for 2 people on the phone, no card. Pro is $24 a month, less in emerging markets.
How a guest's question becomes a table your host confirms
A guest opens your website chat from a code on your door or menu, asks their question, the assistant answers from your menu and hours and captures the booking details and a contact, and the request reaches your team as a WhatsApp lead, and a person confirms with the guest.
- 1
Guest scans your code
The code on your door, menu or takeaway bag opens your website chat. Nothing to install.
- 2
They ask in the chat
Are you open, do you deliver, a table for four on Friday - in whatever language they type.
- 3
The AI answers and captures
It answers from your menu and hours, then asks for a name and number and writes the request down for your team.
- 4
Your host confirms on WhatsApp
The request reaches your team as a lead, in turn, and a person confirms with the guest on WhatsApp.
What a Friday evening looks like
An illustration of the restaurants template with a menu and opening hours loaded. The wording is the assistant's; the confirmation is a person.
The assistant never confirms a table on its own. It has no view of your floor. It takes the details, tells the guest the team will confirm, and your host does that from their own WhatsApp.
- Guest · 18:07, from your menu page
Are you open tonight? Table for 4 around 8, one vegetarian.
- Assistant · Toran, on your website
Yes, we're open until 23:00 tonight. I can pass a table for four at 20:00 with one vegetarian to the team and they will confirm with you. What name and number should they use?
- Guest
Dana, +972 5x xxx xxxx
- Assistant · Toran, on your website
Thanks Dana. The team has your request and will confirm shortly. Anything they should know about the vegetarian dish?
- Your host · 18:09, your host, from their own WhatsApp
Hi Dana, Yossi here. 20:00 for four is confirmed, we have two vegetarian mains on tonight. See you then.
What it does during service.
The phone rings during the rush and the host stops seating to answer “do you have vegan mains?”. That call starts as a question the chat could have answered.
Hours, delivery and menu: answered
“Do you deliver to Neve Sha'anan?” “Is there a kids' menu?” The assistant answers from the hours, menu and delivery area you gave it, in the language the guest writes, and only from that. It never invents a dish or a price, and it never promises a dish is safe for an allergy: it points the guest to your staff.
On the free plan it works from your business description. On Pro you paste the full menu into the knowledge base or upload the PDF.
Table for four: it reaches a person
When a guest wants a table or a delivery, the assistant asks for party size or delivery area, the time, and a way to reach them. The request reaches your team as a lead with the party size, time and contact, and the guest is told the team will confirm. Same-evening requests are treated as urgent, a large group, catering or a birthday is a cue to hand over to your team fast, and asking to book an event or a large party marks the lead ready to act. If you already take bookings through a link and switch on booking assist, the assistant shares the link and the time the guest named lands as its own field on the lead.
Your team gets it, in turn
Requests rotate between the people on the phone, and on Pro anyone marked away is skipped, so one manager is not holding every conversation. The alert arrives on Telegram, email, a push notification or a WhatsApp forward, whichever your team actually reads. If a hot request sits unanswered for 1 hour, it is sent again on every channel you set up. Several branches on one website? The widget can group the contact buttons by branch, each with its own opening hours, and mark the ones that are closed (more than two buttons needs Pro).
Cafes and bars get the same thing with different questions. “Oat milk?” “Can ten of us come at five?” “Is there somewhere to work with a laptop?”
Where the code goes so the chat is there before the visit.
The chat lives on your website, so anything that opens your site opens the assistant. Every one of these is a moment a guest is deciding, not a moment they are already seated.
The door or window
For the person standing outside at 23:30 when you are closed, or at 11:00 when you are not open yet. They ask, the assistant answers from your hours, and the table request is waiting for your host.
The menu board and the takeaway bag
A code next to the menu, or printed on the bag, brings the delivery guest back to your own site next time instead of a delivery app that keeps the margin.
Instagram bio and Google profile
Point the link in your bio and the website field on your Google Business Profile at the page with the chat. The “are you open now?” that used to be a call becomes a chat your team can answer between tables.
Any QR generator works: point it at your menu page. If you would rather the code open WhatsApp directly, our free WhatsApp QR tool makes one, and your host answers instead of the assistant.

What it will not do, so you are not surprised.
We would rather you know this before you install it than after a guest does.
It never confirms a booking
It has no view of your tables. It takes the details and tells the guest the team will confirm. Your host confirms, or declines, from WhatsApp.
It never guarantees allergen safety
If a guest asks whether a dish is safe for their allergy, it promises nothing and points them to your staff. Only your kitchen can make that call.
It sends nothing to your guests on its own
We never message your guests. If your team wants to send a reminder before a booking, they do it from their own phone, when they choose to. The one exception is optional and off until you switch it on: a guest who left an email and whose hot request went unanswered for hours gets a short “sorry we missed you” email.
No table inventory and no floor plan
It is the chat on your own website. It captures the guest who already found you and hands them to a person. Ordering and seating stay in whatever you use today.
The free plan has a daily AI allowance
2 AI conversations a day on the free plan. The chat button, the WhatsApp handoff, lead capture and routing never close; when the allowance is used up, the guest goes straight to your team. Pro has 500 a month for busier kitchens.
Where this sits next to OpenTable and Resy.
You already pay a marketplace for the guest who typed your name into Google and landed on your menu page. Toran is the chat on that page. It keeps the guest there, on your own number, and hands them to your host. Keep the marketplace if it brings you people who never heard of you.
Reservation book plus marketplace. Plans from $149 a month, a per-cover fee on bookings that arrive through their network, and on the entry plan a per-cover fee even for reservations from your own website (captured 2026-09-16). Good for discovery. You pay again for the guest who already found you.
Reservation platform from $289 a month with no per-cover fee (captured 2026-09-16). A full reservation book with waitlist and table management, which is more than a place that mostly wants the guest on its menu page to ask a question and get an answer.
The chat on your own website, on your own number. Free for 2 people, Pro $24 a month, no per-cover fee. It captures the request and your host confirms.
Keep your marketplace listing for discovery if it brings you new guests. Use Toran for the ones who already found you. Compare what each tier includes on the pricing page - the free plan covers direct requests with no card.
Keep it. Toran is the chat on your own website.
A WhatsApp bot tool answers inside WhatsApp. A reservation app holds your tables. Neither one greets the guest who is reading your menu page right now. Toran does, then hands them to a person.
Nobody answered? It comes back to you.
If a hot request sits unanswered for 1 hour, Toran sends the alert again at full volume on every channel you set up. That re-alert has a one-tap “I already responded” button on Telegram and Slack and a link in the email.
No Meta fees, no template approvals
Toran never sends from your WhatsApp number. The button opens an ordinary chat with your host, so there is no WhatsApp Business API account, no per-conversation fee and no template to get approved.
Shared in turn, flat price
Requests rotate between the people on the phone on every plan, free included. One flat monthly price per plan, no per-cover or per-message charge.
Your booking link stays
Switch on booking assist and the assistant hands the guest your existing reservation link, and the time they asked for lands on the lead. Toran never sees your tables, so the reservation app keeps doing that job.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a WhatsApp chat widget for restaurants?
A chat button on your restaurant's own website. A guest asks a question in the chat, Toran's assistant answers from the hours and menu you gave it, and when the guest wants a table or a delivery it takes the details and a contact. The request reaches your team on WhatsApp, in turn, and a person confirms with the guest. No WhatsApp Business API, no Meta approval, and the number stays yours.
Does Toran confirm reservations?
No. Toran has no access to your tables or your reservation book, so it never tells a guest a table is held or confirmed. It takes the party size, the time and a contact, tells the guest the team will confirm, and your host does that from WhatsApp. That is deliberate: a wrong confirmation costs you a table and a guest.
Is Toran free for restaurants?
Yes. The free plan has no time limit and needs no card: 2 people in the routing pool and 2 AI conversations a day. The chat button, WhatsApp handoff, lead capture and routing have no cap. Pro is $24 a month for 10 people, more AI conversations and the knowledge base for your full menu.
Can it read my menu?
On the free plan the assistant answers from your business description and opening hours. On Pro you paste the menu into the knowledge base or upload it as a PDF, and the assistant answers only from that: no invented dishes, no invented prices. On every plan it never guarantees that a dish is allergen-safe, and it points the guest to your staff.
Does it work alongside OpenTable or Resy?
Yes. They are reservation platforms with a marketplace; Toran is the chat on your own website. Keep the listing if it brings you new guests, and use Toran for the guest who already searched your name and landed on your site, so that conversation happens on your own number.
What languages does it answer in?
The assistant replies in the language the guest writes in. The chat window itself ships in 7 languages, and you choose which ones to enable.
